SCM-1 Remote Communication Module

The SCM-1 provides the lowest cost, most comprehensive connectivity to A-BDH+ on the market. The Smart Gateway provides customers with a smooth upgrade for HMIs and other devices that need to communicate with A-BPLC on a DD++ network, but do not have a DDH+ interface. The Smart Gateway provides a number of modern Ethernet, serial and fieldbus protocols for HMIs, drivers or other devices. The Smart Gateway then communicates seamlessly with the A-BPLC via DDH+. No modifications to existing cables, A-BPLC, A-BPLC programming or other devices on the dd+ are required. A single piece of intelligent software not only performs the gateway function, but also controls the A-B remote I/O. Users can upgrade existing A-BPLC systems without having to replace or rewire the I/O or change the DDH+ network wiring! By exchanging the obsolete, limited-function A-BPLC with an intelligent floppy disc, the user gains a modern, supportable controller CPU with a low-cost migration path for future upgrades to the communications network and I/O.

The SCM-1 supports ether-based fieldbus systems such as Ethernet, Ethernet/IP and Profinet. Therefore, the board does not require any additional hardware to act as master, scanner or controller in the network. With the integration of the OPCUA server into the software plc, the system even becomes an industrial 4.0 communication server that can also handle control tasks.
