General Electric has restarted negotiations on a project to sell its industrial solutions business to ABB, which had previously broken down due to price failure. General Electric is planning to sell this business, with General Electric Industrial Solutions manufacturing and selling variable speed drives, circuit breakers, relays, and other industrial electrical equipment for over $2 billion.
At the end of the Swiss project last month, General Electric had a negotiation with ABB to sell the business for over $3 billion, but it was rejected by ABB.
According to Reuters News Agency, General Electric has decided to lower its prices, demonstrating John Flannery’s determination to succeed Jeffrey Immelt as General Electric’s CEO on August 1st, continuing to divest of non core assets.
Another bidder is Schneider Electric, but Schneider Electric has lost interest in GE’s business. According to Reuters, Schneider Electric acquired ASCO power technology for US $1.25 billion last month. If Schneider plans to bid for GE’s industrial solutions business, it may cause potential antitrust problems.
