Description

O3ED ABB DCS system Card

The O3ED is an integrated PLC and robot controller for robotic cell applications that delivers powerful performance in a single cell. The integrated cell combines ABBATAYOORS’ flexible AC500 PLC with its IRC5 robotics controller, eliminating the cost and space of separate PLC cabinets and significantly reducing installation and operation time for robotic production cells. With up to three local I/O boards and remote I/OS bus communications, the integrated controller provides users with a single point of control for a range of production cell functions, including peripheral production equipment such as grippers, feedbacks and auxiliary machines. All major communication standards are supported, including DEICENET, PRFIBUS, CANBOST and MOBUS, as well as wireless communications.

O3ED is suitable for virtually any factory site. Since its launch in 2006, the module has proved popular among OEMs and plant operators looking for a system that can be easily expanded to meet changing requirements. a key benefit of the PLC is its flexibility. Using Control Builder software, programmers are licensed through a complete, unified development environment that includes all six IEC61131-3 programming languages as well as configuration, debugging and visualisation tools. To simplify programming and operation, a software framework is included that eliminates the need for a communications infrastructure between the robot controller and the PLC.
