The output torque of stepper motors can be divided into fast stepper motors and power stepper motors: according to the number of excitation phases, they can be divided into three-phase, four phase, five phase, six phase, or even eight phase stepper motors; According to its working principle, it can be divided into magnetic roaring and reactive stepper motors. Although there are many types of stepper motors, their basic principles are essentially the same. Taking a three-phase reactive stepper motor as an example, the working principle is explained.
There are three pairs of magnetic poles on the stator of the stepper motor, which are wound with excitation windings, called phase A, phase 8, and phase C. The rotor has equidistant small teeth (4 teeth in the figure). If an electric pulse is added to phase A first, the rotor 1 and 3 teeth are attracted by magnetic pole A and aligned with that magnetic pole. Then, if an electric pulse is added to phase B, the already phase magnetic pole will attract the closest 2 and 4 teeth to it, and the rotor will rotate counterclockwise for 30 degrees. Similarly, if an electric pulse is added to phase C, the rotor will rotate another 30 degrees. Then add an electric pulse to phase A and the rotor continues to rotate for 30 seconds. In this way, press A → B → C → A… to turn on the power in sequence, and the stepper motor will rotate counterclockwise.
