It is worth mentioning that as a universal testing system, it should have an open structure, with modular partitioning of the system’s software and hardware components, and each module should be interconnected through standard interfaces (or protocols). In order to ensure the flexibility of the system and fully utilize the creativity of designers, it is only necessary to define the open system from the interface, without defining the specific internal implementation of each module. At the same time, it is also necessary to consider the scalability of system functions and the scalability of technology. Therefore, as two important components of a universal testing system, both hardware and software systems need to have a flexible and open architecture and interface design. The key to the hardware design of a universal testing system is the standardized design of the UUT interface, which aims to provide a hardware connection structure that can be easily converted between multiple UUTs. This structure provides an interface connection method that can operate within a broadband signal range through standardized regulations on mechanical connection mechanisms, connectors, and connectors. This provides strong support for the standardization of a universal testing system using VME bus, VXI bus, PCI bus, and PXI bus instruments (IEEE P1505 RFI system standard). Figure 3 is a schematic diagram of the composition and interface principle of the universal hardware. Among them, the Switch Matrix (SWM) interface and ATS Transfer Device (RFX) interface are important components of ATS, as ATS instruments and UUT are connected through SWM, and most excitation and measurement signals are applied to UUT through RFX. The standard RFX interface restricts the appearance of different types of signals at different positions in the receiver, and SWM can achieve the connection of multiple instruments to multi-functional terminals determined by the standard RFX interface. The standardization of SWM interface and RFX improves interoperability and reduces restructuring costs, ensuring that ATS instruments required for testing UUT can be switched to any pin required for the adapter device.
