The IC695CRU320-EJ utilizes a multiprocessor system to handle the most demanding mechanical and motion automation control and communication tasks. The machine controller is optimized for robust, high-performance industrial control, built on a 1.3 GHz processor, four 32-bit RICC processors, an embedded dual precision floating-point processor, 16 megabytes of user program memory, and a large communication interface. This extremely high level of computing power enables new controllers to handle extremely complex control tasks, involving complexity such as precise coordinated motion with a large number of axes, as well as mathematically intensive calculations such as real-time triangulation of robots or other advanced kinematic applications. The controller also has a built-in interface to connect ABB’s advanced safety PLC to high-risk applications.

IC695CRU320-EJ can be used in legacy systems as well as popular networks today, while providing a software architecture that can handle future needs. Built in four independent Ethernet interfaces and an integrated network switch. Two of these interfaces are programmable and support different Ethernet based protocols, such as Ethernet and ProFi, allowing PLCs to connect and control two different types of networks. TAP/IP, UDP, CAN/CAN open and two RS232/485 serial interfaces have completed the onboard connection. Further network and fieldbus interfaces can be added through the dual expansion ports of the PLC.

This diverse communication possibility allows users to easily develop control networks and add new machines or equipment to the control system network, for example, even if located on another processing line or location. The range compatibility of the expansion module of IC695CRU320-EJ provides unlimited flexibility for industrial control and monitoring applications. Users can also establish a system with integrated functional security, directly connecting ABB’s secure PLC to the second expansion port. This provides great flexibility for implementing security critical applications. This module uses non-volatile MRAM memory and does not require fan cooling, providing equipment designers and process automation engineers with great flexibility in location.
