*Vertical kiln cement plant. The early strength of cement in China is low, which is related to the backward production process and equipment. However, it is also because we have not given enough attention or fully recognized its benefits, especially the impact on concrete quality. There are several main reasons to improve the early strength of cement: 1) High early strength clinker can increase the amount of admixture added, reduce the consumption of useful energy and resources, and is beneficial for environmental protection. 2) High early strength is beneficial for improving the quality of concrete and reducing the risk of early cracking. The surface of concrete is prone to cracks, which is one of the root causes of premature damage to concrete. There are many reasons for cracks to occur, and it is inconvenient to elaborate here. One important point is that the early strength of concrete is insufficient and the curing is insufficient. After pouring concrete, due to changes in temperature and humidity inside the structure, a certain amount of internal stress will be generated. In addition, the stress generated by the component itself and external loads may exceed the tensile strength of the concrete at that time. Especially on the surface of concrete, due to the effects of vibration and static hydraulic pressure, there is an enriched layer of water and cement slurry, which makes the surface strength lower than the internal strength. The surface structure is relatively loose, and is greatly affected by external conditions, resulting in high stress. Once the internal stress exceeds the tensile strength of concrete, cracks will occur, as shown in Figure 2. Early cracking often occurs within 10 to 48 hours, while later cracking occurs after 2 weeks. If the early strength of cement is low and not adequately cured, cracking as shown in Figure 2 may occur. Cement with the same grade has a lower risk of cracking due to its high early strength, or the curing time can be shortened. The specification proposed by the German Cement Factory Association requires that the wet curing time of newly poured concrete should be extended until the surface strength of the concrete reaches or exceeds 50% of the design strength. Therefore, improving the early strength of cement is beneficial for improving the quality of concrete.
