From these examples, it can be seen that the proportion of high-grade cement and high-grade concrete is not large. This cannot be said that these cement are not high-quality cement, nor can it be said that China’s cement does not reach the international advanced level if its 28d strength does not reach 60-70MPa. Strength is not the only indicator to measure the quality of cement, nor is it the higher the better. To be precise, the quantity of high-grade cement produced and used in China is relatively small, and the maximum strength is also relatively low. If we compare the statistical data of China in 1995 with the domestic sales of cement in Germany in 1981 and 1997, we can clearly see these two shortcomings of China’s cement. The data in China has been reduced by one label and listed in Table 1.
Note: 1) Germany used the old standard in 1981, with data from the old standard in parentheses; 2) China’s data does not include 2.23% special cement; 3) The average value of Z55 cement sampled by the German Cement Factory Association in 1995; 4) China Building Materials Research Institute reports data on 625R cement; 5) According to the calculation formula proposed by China Building Materials Research Institute: RGB=0.913RISO+14.1 conversion value. From Table 1, it can be seen that 52.5 grade high-grade cement accounted for 3.2% in Germany in 1981 and 5.7% in 1997, while China only accounted for 0.17% in 1995 32.5 cement accounted for 74.6% in Germany in 1981, 61.6% in 1997, and 89.4% in China in 1995. Compared to the two, the compressive strength value of high-grade cement in China is about 15MPa lower. This gap is certainly related to the development level of concrete technology and market demand in China, but it also indicates that in the past decade, the development speed of cement and concrete material properties in China has not been fast and the coordination has not been good. Even if there are market requirements today, it is still somewhat difficult for cement factories to produce cement with a RISO of around 80MPa.
