BENTLY 146031-01  Transient Data Interface I/O Module


The BENTLY 146031-01 connects the Epic chassis to an Edge Programmable Industrial Controller (ESTE) as well as discrete and analogue I/O modules to provide analogue, discrete and serial signals at any location. The module provides four separate and isolated serial ports for this purpose, communicating with RS-232 or RS-485 serial devices. Up to four modules can be installed on a single Grove Epic chassis, providing a total of 16 serial ports to support these communication requirements.

Each port is selectable for either RS-232 or RS-485 mode with programmable termination and bias as well as a half-duplex option or full-duplex option in RS-485 mode. Baud rates up to 1 megabit are supported.The BENTLY 146031-01 modules are hot-swappable – meaning they can be installed or removed without shutting down the unit or stopping the control – and self-identifying; once you install the module in the chassis, it communicates with the processor and identifies itself!

For devices that communicate with serial devices via standard protocols, programming-based software provides communication handles to serial devices. Or use Grove Epic’s Ignition Edge inductive automation, which provides support for hundreds of communication drivers. For serial devices that require the development of custom drivers, Grove EECE supports secure enclosure access, SDKS, and custom cross-compilers for user-written applications.

A swing-out, two-position cover protects the cord from unintentional contact, as in the previous design. The cover’s two positions offer the option of more space to accommodate cord sizes from AWG 28-14. The module cover provides a touch-sensitive pad; the touch pad and Grove Epic processor display information about the module, including specifications and wiring diagrams. The module cover also provides a large LED display with a healthy glance at the module, plus transmission and reception LEDs at each port.
