This article introduces the design and implementation of a universal frame synchronizer based on FPGA and DSP that can adapt to various frame structures and engineering requirements. The principle of universal frame synchronization in digital communication is that the data stream is composed of several symbols to form a digital information group. When both communication parties transmit data streams, the task of frame synchronization is to identify the start and end times of the digital information group based on the bit synchronization information, and generate a consistent timing pulse sequence, which is the frame synchronization signal. In digital communication systems, coherent insertion method is usually used to achieve frame synchronization. The coherent insertion method is the method of inserting a frame synchronization code group at the beginning of each frame. Due to the advantages of short frame synchronization establishment time and easy implementation, coherent insertion method is widely used in data transmission. To achieve frame synchronization using the coherent insertion method, the primary task is to identify the frame synchronization code group from the data stream, and then output the corresponding synchronization signal. The recognition of frame synchronization code groups mainly utilizes their sharp unimodal nature. This article uses matching correlation for frame synchronization code group recognition. The frame synchronization code group and decision threshold can be flexibly configured, which has strong anti-interference ability
